The four merging practices decided to use part of each of the original names in order to acknowledge their rich heritage in West Bridgford General Practice. The first practice, Trent Bridge, opened in 1979; followed by Compton Acres in 1988. Next came Ludlow Hill in 1991 and finally Southview in 1993.
‘CA’ comes from Compton Acres, ‘S’ from Southview Surgery, ‘T’ from Trent Bridge and ‘L’ from Ludlow Hill. The ‘E’ was discussed and we agreed on everyone. Castle links well with Nottingham, and it’s landmark fortress and also with the University (we are a medical student and GP training practice) who have a Castle as their logo.
The name reflects the qualities we wish to have such as durability, strength and protection.
We used “Healthcare Practice” to acknowledge that we are very much part of a wider network than providing pure general practice. Part of our skills as GPs, nurses and management will be to navigate our patients through the ever increasing complexity of health and social care. Our name reflects this. Our logo reflects why we exist. This is essentially to help patients get the optimal quality health care they want and deserve.
What we do is provide high quality general practice, which delivers the best care, and health outcomes for our patients and their carers (either carers, parents or guardians). How we do that is by providing care as individual practitioners, as a team and by using other providers eg hospitals, social care etc.
So therefore use the logo to reflect our philosophy:-
The 4 turrets reflect the heritage of the 4 practices; the colours and font reflect our philosophy (positive and up to date) with innovative thinking and the 4 people reflect “the patients, their families and carers, our workforce and the networks of partner organisations with whom we work”.
We hope you will increasingly associate the name Castle Healthcare Practice with high quality care for you and yours, and recognise the logo as symbolic of that quality.
